“More children have arrived in Neve Hanna since our last communication.
They also live in residential groups with shelters attached. Our employees work shifts and are with the children around the clock.
Since it is important to maintain a routine in such situations, there is now a fixed timetable for every day of the week, which not only sets times for studying, but also for a variety of leisure activities.
The children are fine so far – they have been very busy in the last few days, including crafting and crafting, baking and cooking, playing board games, doing activities together, and then in the evening watching a film or singing karaoke (great fun for the ears …). There are also many visits to the therapeutic petting zoo. Our library also allows children to distract themselves and our librarian reads to the little ones.
One day the children were even pampered by hairdressers from Kiryat Gat. The boys usually needed a new haircut, while the girls needed a wash and blow-dry. They all felt like princes and princesses afterwards and had big smiles on their faces.
Today, there will be another Shabbat service and a group dinner together; lots of balm for the soul in the form of encouraging speeches, encouragement, hugs, a sense of community – and last but not least, good food!
The group, which took part in a program to train young people, got involved in our bakery on their own initiative. Packages of cookies were put together for those police officers who are currently providing security in Kiryat Gat. We also all keep in close contact with the Shoah survivors in Kiryat Gat, with whom we have close ties.”
