Neve Hanna Children’s Home

Loving Home

Since 1974, Neve Hanna Children’s Home in Kiryat Gat, Israel, has provided a loving home for children from distressed and dysfunctional family circumstances. They are the children of Russian, Ethiopian, Middle Eastern immigrants and native-born Israelis. Sadly, these children have been scarred by poverty, abuse, parental neglect and mental illness and drug or alcohol addiction in the home. These at-risk youth come to Neve Hanna where their physical, emotional and educational needs are addressed. Neve Hanna is not an institution. It is recognized under the Masorti Movement as a Kehilla, the only one of its kind in Israel. The children’s home provides individual therapy, remedial instruction and extensive enrichment leisure time programs to the children. Neve Hanna offers these at-risk youth the chance to grow beyond the circumstances from which they emerged. This loving, nurturing and therapeutic environment gives the children the opportunity to heal, thrive and become responsible contributing adults of society.

The Playground Project

Neve Hanna’s playground of 40 years had to be demolished due to safety issues. Our goal is to raise the necessary funds needed to build a safe, wonderful new playground for the children to enjoy at Neve Hanna. We dream of wooden installations made to last decades, environmentally friendly and challenging for the children. Places where they can play, climb, hide and seek, explore and learn, and of course have a lot of fun in a safe surrounding. With your help, we can do it!

Become a friend!

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Neve Hanna has been able to expand its outreach to at-risk youth facing great difficulty. The support of our friends allows the American Friends of Neve Hanna to increase its assistance and meet critical needs. Together, we can fulfill the promise of providing our boys and girls the opportunity to grow into happy, healthy, and successful young adults.

Library Program

We are raising money to buy additional books for the Library at Neve Hanna Children’s Home. The library fosters a love of reading books and study, provides a new kind of vocational training, instills interpersonal skills and inspires the pursuit of higher education.
