Neve Hanna Children’s Home

Changing Children’s Lives
Since 1974, Neve Hanna Children’s Home in Kiryat Gat, Israel, has provided a loving home for children from distressed and dysfunctional family circumstances. They are the children of Russian, Ethiopian, Middle Eastern immigrants and native-born Israelis. Sadly, these children have been scarred by poverty, abuse, parental neglect and mental illness and drug or alcohol addiction in the home. These at-risk youth come to Neve Hanna where their physical, emotional and educational needs are addressed. Neve Hanna is affiliated with the Masorti Movement as a Kehillah, the only one of its kind in Israel. The children’s home provides individual therapy, remedial instruction and extensive enrichment leisure time programs to the children. Neve Hanna offers these at-risk youth the chance to grow beyond the circumstances from which they emerged. This loving, nurturing and therapeutic environment gives the children the opportunity to heal, thrive and become responsible contributing adults of society. Many go on to build successful careers and raise healthy families. Neve Hanna aims to instill in its children, a sense of self-worth and an attachment to Jewish Tradition and values.
Our Hanukkah project this year will focus on
each child’s personal journey to a bright and successful future!

American Friends of Neve Hanna stands with Israel and the IDF as they protect their citizens. We keep the children and staff of Neve Hanna Children’s Home, as well as all of Israel, in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. We pray that we will be delivered from this time of war and enter a time of peace. As supporters of the State of Israel and our People, let us come together as a community.
At Neve Hanna, the new Youth Council is involved in the decision-making for the educational and cultural programs brought to the children. And so this year, the children have chosen Hip-Hop!
The new Hip-Hop program will be for all of the children at Neve Hanna! It will be educational, therapeutic, and creative and involve a variety of activities such as rapping, dance, and beatboxing. Hip-Hop is great for dance, and exercise helps relieve stress, and builds a sense of community. It allows the children to express emotions, connect, and promote social change. In these challenging times, our children can turn to music, and dance to express their experiences and emotions. Library Program
The library fosters a love of reading books and studying, provides a new kind of vocational training, instills interpersonal skills, and inspires the pursuit of higher education. Our children will gain a love of reading that opens up doors to a world of possibilities. The library serves as an educational project and a self-support project. Professional Librarian, Judith Preger-Reshef supervises and educates the children and offers on-the-job training for our teens, giving them the education, experience, and job skills to pursue a career in Library Science.

Ziv Neurim
Ziv Neurim, the Path of the Sea program, works with 30 teenage boys and girls needing intensive support in their teen development. Professionally guided group activities on the beach and in the sea are offered through topics such as perseverance, mastering challenges, and personal willpower. The youngsters discover new worlds by swimming and rowing, surfing and sailing.
