  • Happy Passover from our family to yours!

As we turn our thoughts to Passover and recall and celebrate our freedom from Egyptian bondage, it is time to rejoice in our ability to free ourselves of those elements within that enslave us. Every year, Neve Hanna celebrates Passover with a traditional Leil Ha-Seder event with the children. Jewish holidays are celebrated regularly, introducing Jewish heritage to the children. These activities foster community, creativity, and connection through shared traditions, values, and rituals. Despite the ongoing war, there is growth and hope for the children at Neve Hanna. With your help, American Friends of Neve Hanna can continue funding the incredible projects and activities…

Dear Friends, We are now looking ahead to the Passover holiday, whose festival days always bring longer school vacations. With the approval of the Ministry, Neve Hanna was initially able to send all children to their parents or relatives for a few days. After some time, a group of children who could remain at home for just a short period returned to Neve Hanna. Additional children will come back during the extended holiday period, though only part of the team is required for their care. Just before the holidays, the most pressing issue Neve Hanna had been grappling with after…

  • News from Neve Hanna, 3/22/26

Dear Friends, We have now weathered the third week of rocket attacks. Compared to the north and central regions, things have remained relatively calm here. Yet this past weekend, due to rockets that were not intercepted—including some carrying cluster munitions—we were starkly reminded of the importance of using the shelters. In Neve Hanna, we take civil defense instructions very seriously, following them down to the smallest detail. We know that the shelters not only protect our children as best as possible, but also give them a sense of security, even though the emotional strain is palpable everywhere. Purim, aside from…

Almost a week has passed since I last got in touch to let you know that we at Neve Hanna are basically okay, although we are very much feeling the tension, the uncertainty, and by now also the fatigue. Compared to other regions of the country, things are relatively calm in Kiryat Gat. Nevertheless, the regulations of the Home Front Command also apply to our children’s home: gatherings of no more than 50 people, and only if adequate shelters are within reach, and above all no regular school classes. The children are supposed to study via Zoom, which is difficult…

  • News from Neve Hanna, 3/2/2026

Once again, I am writing to you because our children are facing a highly tense security situation, and many of you have reached out to ask how Neve Hanna, the children, and the team are doing. In short, we can say that we are all okay — though that does not mean we are not worried and troubled by the situation. The tension, the stress triggered by rocket alarms, and the uncertainty of whether the rockets will be intercepted in time are extremely exhausting. For our children, this is compounded by the fact that they are already struggling with trauma,…

  • A Meaningful Visit to Neve Hanna

By David E. Friedman In early November 2025, five of us traveled from Boca Raton to Israel, including my wife, Melinda, our close friends Debra and Dr. Larry Halperin, and Morgan Pressel, a professional golfer and sports commentator, all of us proud Jews and Zionists. Our visit to Neve Hanna followed an intense and emotional morning. Our fellow traveler Larry Halperin, a true hero of Am Yisrael, has been traveling back and forth from Boca Raton to Be’er Sheva since the earliest days of the war to perform retina surgery at Soroka Medical Center on injured soldiers and others in…
